Tucked away in the Pyrenees Mountains on the border between France and Spain lies the principality of Andorra. It is one of the smallest countries in the world yet, because of its popularity as a tourist destination, also one of the most proportionally prosperous.

In terms of GDP Per capita, it’s on the same level as Denmark and the UK.  While the country’s private banking sector makes an important contribution to its citizens’ prosperity, these days it is its tourist industry, and particularly its ski resorts, that drive the tiny country’s capacity to generate wealth.
